Our Story

A Family Business

In 1972, Ernest Sheldon, an immigrant from Scotland, started a small painting business. His son, Scott came into the business to train to paint during his breaks between school commitments and the military. It was clear from the beginning that Scott’s talents were business-minded. He learned the trade from his father quite well and when he took over the reigns, he dedicated his efforts to growing the family business into the household name that Sheldon & Sons is today.

Our History

Sheldon & Sons is a full-service residential and commercial painting contractor. We’ve painted some pretty well-known businesses, such as the National Aquarium in downtown Baltimore and the Washington Memorial, just to name a few. But despite these impressive addresses, our first love falls with our residential customers who have helped us to develop our top-notch reputation from the inside out; interior and exterior! We learned what it means to deliver quality workmanship, focus on the details, and provide outstanding customer service. We also acknowledge that mistakes can happen and we pledge to always do our very best to make things right!

Still Going Strong

Today, Sheldon & Sons employs 14 crews (including Ernie - who can still often be found on a ladder at 89 years young!) and a staff of highly skilled office personnel and management. We have the expertise to perform jobs of all sizes and types. We are, however, probably proudest of our ability to perform as a large business, while still maintaining the values, personal attention and friendly familiarity that comes from a family-run company.
